Vineet Jain said that Adani Green Energy will invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the next five years to increase the capacity of 30 gigawatt (GW) on renewable energy project at its Khavda plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The company started operation of 2GW out of 30GW. Billionaire Gautam Adani’s target is to build the world’s largest renewable energy project, which will be almost the size of Mumbai on 538 square km of barren land in Khawra. Within a year of starting work, the company has started operation of 2GW out of the total 30GW planned for the project. Total investment will be Rs 2.3 lakh crore. Apart from Rs 1.5 lakh crore on the expansion of Khavda project, Adani Green will invest Rs 50,000 crore on 6-7 GW renewable energy projects at other locations by 2030. Adani New Industries, the equipment manufacturing unit of the group, will invest Rs 30,000 crore. According to this, the total investment of Adani Group will be Rs 2.3 lakh crore. Planning to add about 4 gigawatts in the current FY Vineet Jain said, ‘We are planning to add about 4 gigawatts in the current financial year (FY). It will become 6 GW by March 2025. In subsequent years we will add 5 gigawatts every year. We plan to set up plants in other parts of the country also. Adani Green’s operating portfolio of 10.9 GW is based on the recently commissioned 2 GW capacity solar power in Khavra. Under this project, wind energy capacity is also being established at the same place. The company has already installed wind mills and aims to start electricity production by the end of this year. With the commissioning of the capacity at Khavra, Adani Green’s operating portfolio has reached 10.9 GW.
