According to Bloomberg, Apple has given this information in 8 separate filings given to the California Employment Development Department. The report states that the company has fired 87 people working at a secret place in the Next Generation Screen Development Program and people who were part of the company’s car project. According to the rules in California, every decision affecting employees has to be informed to the Employment Department. According to the report, 2000 employees were affected due to the closure of the project, apart from 371 employees in Apple’s main car related office in Santa Clara, California, people have been laid off in many other satellite offices. At the same time, many people have been transferred to the Artificial Intelligence and Personal Robotics departments of the company. About 2000 employees have been affected due to the closure of these projects. Apple worked for 10 years but could not even make a prototype of the car. Recently Apple has closed its 10 year old car project. The company invested billions of dollars in this project in the last decade, but was not able to even prepare a physical prototype in that time.
