Effort to compensate for low returns on investment: According to Bank of America, Indian telecom companies have spent a large amount on 5G spectrum. In comparison, ROCE (Return of Capital Employed), i.e. earnings in proportion to expenses, is quite low. Due to unlimited plans, the income of the companies has remained low till now. The tariff was last increased in November 2021. The last increase in mobile tariff was made in November, 2021. At that time Vodafone Idea had increased tariffs by about 20%, Bharti Airtel and Jio by 25%.
