The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has asked all e-commerce companies to remove all beverages, including Bournvita, from the category of ‘health drinks’ from their websites and platforms. The ministry said in a notification, ‘The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, a legal body constituted under Section (3) of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005, after its investigation under Section 14 of the CPCR Act, 2005, It has been concluded that there is no ‘Health Drink Definition’ under the FSS Act 2006, Rules and Regulations submitted through FSSAI and Mondelez India Food Pvt. Ltd. On April 2, FSSAI had asked to put food products in the appropriate category. Earlier on April 2, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had asked all e-commerce companies to ensure that the food products sold on their websites. Put it in the appropriate category. The authority had also asked not to misuse words like health drink and energy drink to increase the sales of any beverage.
