Apart from Ajay Devgan and Priyanka, Sunil Shetty and Dia Mirza were also in important roles in this film. The film was directed by Ajay Devgan’s brother Anil Devgan. Before this, Anil had made Raju Chacha with Ajay Devgan in 2000. Blackmail was inspired by the Hollywood movie Ransom which was released in 1996. The music of the film was by Himesh Reshammiya and the songs were written by Sameer.
