69-year-old comedy actor Tiku Talsania, who has worked in films like Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi (1991), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na (1993) and Ishq (1997), has claimed that he is now ‘a little unemployed’. In an interview with ‘The Indian Express’, Tiku said that despite giving auditions and sending feelers, he is not getting good roles.

Tiku blamed the lack of work on the changing times where formula films in Bollywood have been replaced by story-oriented cinema. “Gone are the times when there used to be formula films with cabaret dance, two love songs and comedians would come and do their thing and go away. All that has changed now. It has become story oriented. Therefore, unless you become a part of the story or you get a character whose story is related to the story, you do not get work. I am a little unemployed right now. I want to work but am not getting the right kind of roles.
Tiku also said that he is not sitting idle at home, but is trying to get work in every possible way. Whether one has to audition for this or through an agent or by sending feelers to Mekarl. “I am constantly looking for work. I have an agent, a team that looks for scripts and plays. They told me about it and if I have to go for the audition, I will go for the audition. Things have changed with time. But there is a need to be patient. I’m waiting for people to call me. Also, I am making it feel like I am an actor looking for work. So if there is any suitable role then I would love to do it. Our approach is similar.”
