There is no dearth of people leaving engineering and entering the world of acting in India. Be it Sushant Singh Rajput or Vicky Kaushal…many people said bye bye to engineering for showbiz. One of these engineers had even started working in this field and got a very well-paid job in Britain, but he decided to leave all this and return to the country.
From engineer to actor: Naveen Polishetty’s journey
Naveen Polishetty was born in a middle class family in Hyderabad. He earned a degree in civil engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (known as NIT Bhopal). After this he joined a software firm in Pune and later went to England for work. Success was being achieved although Naveen was not happy. In 2011, he left his job and quietly returned to India and did not even tell his family. There he did small roles in Telugu films like ‘Life is Beautiful’ and ‘1: Nenokkadine’ to meet the expenses and along with this he started doing theatre.
After doing standup for a few years, in 2015 Naveen started working with AIB in their YouTube skits. He gained a lot of popularity with his character of an average man in plays like Honest Engineering Campus Placement. In 2019, Naveen got two successes in his career. He did a supporting role in Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Chhichhore which was a big hit. In the beginning of 2023, he did his first film as a main hero – Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya which was a sleeper hit.
