IAS
The candidates with top rank in UPSC exam are awarded the post of IAS. But many times, even after securing a high rank, the candidate chooses IPS etc. posts as his choice. Due to this, even candidates at lower ranks get a chance to become IAS. As a District Magistrate, an IAS officer is very capable and powerful. The District Magistrate is also the guardian of the law and order of the district. He has many special powers which he uses when the time comes.
IFS
Indian Foreign Service i.e. IFS is responsible for improving the country’s image outside the country and improving relations with other countries. IFS officers working in Indian embassies spend most of their working time outside the country. Relations between any two countries depend a lot on the qualifications of IFS officers.
IPS
Like IAS, the post of IPS is also given to the top rankers only. Everyone is desperate to get this job adorned with police uniform and status. The IPS officer is responsible for the security arrangements of the district. It is his responsibility to maintain law and order in the district by preventing crime and arresting criminals.
IRS
The candidate selected for the post of Indian Revenue Service has to work in the departments of Commerce Ministry, RBI, Income Tax, Customs etc. It is clear that the role of IRS officers is important in improving the economy of the country.
