IAS Success Story: Today we are going to tell you the success story of a very senior IAS officer. Who has seen many districts of UP very closely and today he is posted as District Officer of the capital Lucknow. We are talking about IAS officer Surya Pal Gangwar. Who did not get success in many attempts. But the spirit of not giving up took him to his destination.  
 
IAS Surya Pal Gangwar belongs to Bareilly district. He comes from an ordinary family. His father was a teacher, who was also his role model. Surya Pal Gangwar studied from class 1st to 5th in a school in Nawabganj town. Whereas he has received further education from Navodaya Vidyalaya. DM and other administrative officials used to frequently visit Navodaya Vidyalaya. Due to which Surya Pal Gangwar was inspired to become DM. After 12th, he decided to make a career in engineering. He has done his graduation from IIT Roorkee.

Missed the opportunity to go abroad

Surya Pal Gangwar worked for several years at EMC and Philips and then joined Century Laminating. He learned time management and work efficiency in corporate. He got a chance to go to America, but he chose to work in India. In July 2003, Surya Pal Gangwar became an engineer in Air India Limited. Gave UPSC exam for the first time in 2004 but did not succeed. Started preparation again in 2005 and failed this time too. After this, he spent all his time after the job in preparing for UPSC.

Even after IRS, did not give up the path of becoming IAS

Surya Pal Gangwar joined coaching in Delhi. He used to leave home at 5 in the morning and after a 2-hour coaching class, used to reach office by 9 o’clock. He used to leave the office at 6 in the evening and go straight to the second coaching class. Used to work hard for about 18 hours a day. He was confident that he would pass the IAS exam. Surya Pal Gangwar appeared for UPSC exam in 2006, but did not get success in Mains. He took the exam again the next year and got selected in IRS with 476th rank. After which he took the exam again in 2008 and became IAS by securing 8th rank.
