In this film, along with Govinda, actors like Aarti Chhabra, Rakesh Bedi and Sadashiv Amrapurkar were in the lead roles. The film Raja Bhaiya was directed by Raman Kumar. Before its release, he had vigorously promoted this Govinda film. But when Raja Bhaiya was released in theatres, it did very badly at the box office. It became one of the disaster films of Bollywood.

The budget of Raja Bhaiya was Rs 4.75 crore and the film could earn only Rs 2.85 crore at the box office. This was Govinda’s last film before entering politics and taking a break of 3 years. However, his further released films like Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karein, Sukh and Sandwich were completed before leaving the films. Which were released later.
