India’s famous music emperor Ustad Rashid Khan passed away. She was admitted in a hospital in Kolkata. Rashid Khan was 55 years old. He was suffering from prostate cancer. Was on ventilator and oxygen support in Prostate Cancer Hospital. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the music world after his death. Everyone is paying tribute to the legendary music emperor. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over the death of Rashid Khan.

I am in a lot of pain because I still cannot believe that Rashid Khan is no more. According to media reports, the musician’s health had deteriorated after suffering a cerebral attack last month. Rashid Khan, 55, of Rampur-Sahaswan family, initially got treatment at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital.

However, later he continued his treatment in Kolkata. Born in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, Rashid Khan, who is also the nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, received his early training from his maternal grandfather, Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan (1909–1993). His musical talent was first recognized by his uncle Ghulam Mustafa Khan, who trained him in Mumbai. At the age of eleven, Rashid Khan gave his first concert and the following year, in 1978, he graced the stage at the ITC concert in Delhi. Subsequently, in April 1980, when Nisar Hussain Khan moved to the ITC Music Research Academy (SRA) in Calcutta, Rashid Khan, at the age of 14, also became a part of the academy.
