Heeramandi Review In Hindi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heeramandi has been released on Netflix. There was tremendous hype about everything from the film’s grand sets to its budget. The web series was also the OTT debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But in Hiramandi, he has brought the same world of courtesans which he has often presented in his films. From Devdas to Gangubai Kathiawadi, she talks about those women of the society about whom anything has always been avoided. ‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmeen Sehgal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman and Farida Jalal. If we look at the list of these stars, it comes to mind that often such stars are selected for OTT projects who are either in anonymity or whose shine has already diminished. Hiramandi is also a gathering of such stars. Then, the way Sanjay Leela Bhansali has presented Lahore’s Heeramandi on screen, eight episodes and then one episode of about an hour, it requires both patience and courage to watch the web series.
If we talk about ‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, then in the Netflix web series, the last moments of the glory of Hiramandi have been shown through Manisha Koirala and the women associated with her. In the web series, the struggle for power is seen through Manisha Koirala and Sonakshi Sinha. So, through Sharmeen Sehgal, the story of a girl who wants to stay away from this world has been shown. While some are raising their voice for the fight for freedom, others have to fight for their existence. Apart from these, there are some Nawabs in Hiramandi who come to the doorstep of Mallikajan. In this way, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has shown the story of that period through Hiramandi which is rarely seen. But the characters and events do not appear to be coherent in the story. Only the splendor of money is visible and it is seen how any ordinary thing can be made grand.
Then the length of the episodes of Hiramandi and the flow of the series is very slow, which is irritating. In terms of acting, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha and other actresses have done a good job. But while watching Hiramandi, Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan comes to mind again and again and at some places it also feels heavy. The characters of Hiramandi are very reminiscent of Begum Jaan. Although the story lines of both are completely different. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali is that director who has the skill of presenting even glass as a diamond. So seeing Hiramandi also gives a similar feeling. Then the way he plays with the camera is rare to see anywhere else.
Talking about Hiramandi, if you are a fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, his imaginary world attracts you a lot, his illusive world pulls you and you have more than eight hours of time, then you can definitely try this web series once. .
