Actress Deepika Chikhalia, who gained recognition in the 80s with the role of Mata Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, is in the headlines these days. Meanwhile, in an interview given to India Today, she reacted to Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming movie i.e. Bollywood’s Ramayana. She said that people should not tamper with religious texts. While she revealed why she did not like the idea of making a remake of Ramayana.
The actress said, “Honestly, I am quite disappointed with people who keep making Ramayan because I don’t think you should do that. People are misusing it. I don’t think people should make Ramayan again and again because every time they make it, they want to bring something new. A new story, a new angle, a new look. Like for Kriti Sanon, they gave her pink satin in Adipurush. They gave Saif a different look because they wanted to do something different creatively. But then what you are doing is spoiling the whole impact of Ramayan.”
He further said, one should not tamper with religious texts. I feel that this should not be done and it should be left alone. Just don’t do it. Apart from Ramayana, there are many stories that can be done. There are many freedom fighters, talk about them. There are many things that can be talked about. Such unsung heroes in history who showed bravery for freedom. Why only Ramayana?
