Vodafone-Idea losses of ₹7,674 crore in fourth quarter: Income at ₹10,606 crore, ARPU of VI at ₹146 crore

Telecom company Vodafone Idea i.e. VI has suffered a loss of ₹ 7,674 crore in the fourth quarter (January-March) of the financial year 2024. The company’s consolidated net loss in the same quarter a year ago was ₹6,418 crore. That means the company’s loss has increased by 19.56% on an annual basis in the fourth quarter. VI released its fourth quarter and annual results today i.e. on May 16. Consolidated revenue from operations of VI increased by 0.71% on an annual basis. Revenue from operations stood at ₹10,606 crore in the fourth quarter. Revenue in the same quarter a year ago was ₹10,531 crore. Company’s loss widens by 6.6% in FY2024 VI’s consolidated loss for full FY2024 widens by 6.61% to ₹31,238 crore. The deficit in FY 2023 was ₹29,301 crore. Revenue in FY2024 stood at ₹42,651 crore, while VI’s consolidated revenue from operations in FY2024 increased to ₹42,651 crore. Revenue in FY 2023 was ₹42,177 crore. That means revenue has increased by 1.12%. Vodafone Idea’s ARPU stood at Rs 146. During the fourth quarter, Vodafone Idea’s average revenue per user (ARPU) increased marginally to Rs 146. It was Rs 145 in the last quarter and Rs 135 in the same quarter of the last financial year. The company has mainly been helped by changes in entry-level plans and subscriber upgrades. The number of 4G subscribers stood at 12.63 crore. The company said that the number of its 4G subscribers has increased for the 11th consecutive quarter. At the end of the fourth quarter, the number of 4G subscribers stood at 12.63 crore. It was Rs 12.26 crore in the same quarter last year. The overall subscriber base of the company was 21.26 crore. Total data traffic for the fourth quarter grew 4.3% year-on-year. What is standalone and consolidated? The results of companies come in two parts – standalone and consolidated. Standalone shows the financial performance of only one unit. Whereas, in the consolidated financial report, the entire company is reported. Here, Vodafone Idea has 9 subsidiaries, 1 joint venture and 1 associate. The financial reports of all these will be called consolidated. Whereas, the separate result of HAL will be called standalone. VI gave 85% return in one year. Before the results came, VI shares fell 0.76% and closed at ₹ 13.10. It has given 85.82% returns in the last one year. The market cap of the company is Rs 87.49 thousand crore.
